West Sussex Geological Society
The W.S.G.S
The society was founded in 1977 and currently has around 80 members.
It is organised for and by enthusiastic amateurs
Members receive a copy of the society magazine Outcrop twice a year
New members are welcome
Our Meetings
Meetings are held on the third Friday of each month except for July and August
Meetings are held at St. Stephens Church, Angola Road, Worthing, BN14 8DU
Meetings begin at 7:30 pm where a varied and interesting programme of talks are given by guest speakers
Talks are designed for beginners and experts alike, with tea, coffee and biscuits after
Talks are generally attended by an average of 40 members
Our Field Trips
Field trips are arranged throughout the year, generally six trips are organised each year
Trips are whole or half day, using private cars
Most trips are organised by leaders who are experts in the areas being visited
We have a residential trip for 3 to 4 days on the first May Bank Holiday which enables us to go further afield
This has included trips to Derbyshire, Shropshire, the Forest of Dean, South and Mid Wales, Anglesey, Cornwall and Guernsey
Are great fun
Include fossil and mineral collecting
