West Sussex Geological Society
This is our traditional annual meet to coincide with the Worthing Festival.
The times for this event is generally set to be on falling - low - rising tide. Normally it doesnt't involve getting wet (unless it's raining !!), since we are just walking the shingle above the sand line.
We normally have a quick chat about what to look for and collect. Then it's off to collect samples for about 15 minutes.
We all meet back together and lay out our finds and group the together by type, colour, shape, fossil type ??, etc. The leaders, this year Alan, Andy & Ray, will attempt to categorise the finds by their type, method of formation, indication of fossil, exotic pebbles etc. We don't really expect people to collect large items -- but who knows.
Discussions and group participation is always welcome rather than a formal monologue from the leader. The length of discussions is completely unspecified in terms of duration and you can leave whenever you feel that you have had enough.
There is no charge for this meet but the WSGS does always accept a small donation from non-members to aid society funds.
